Back from the jaws of death

Image
On the night of 2nd June 2023, I received an information from another animal lover that 2 dogs in an interior part of Madhyamgram were near death , and poisoning was suspected. The video shared by the mentor of the dogs showed both the dogs lying down and breathing heavily. From the video it looked that they have lost all motor functions, and are just waiting to die under the effect of a poisonous substance I reached the location on the night of 3rd June. Tragically, one of the dogs had breathed its last just a few hours before I arrived. However, I immediately started treatment for the surviving dog through parenteral route. After intensive treatment via parenteral route on 3rd and 4th June, which stabilized the dog, oral medicine was advised for the rest of the week. I again visited on 11th June, and the dog was much more stable and coming out of danger. Some more fluids and medicine were given on that day. Though he could not get up on his own, he appeared to hold his head if made t

Help for treatment & sterilization of Radhey

Here's the story of 'Radhey'... The PAWS staff first noticed Radhey lying down on her side beside 'Fatik Sadhu Mandir', which is nearby to the shelter. At first, they didn't pay attention as there are a lot of street dogs in the area. However, during multiple up and down movements with the ambulance, they saw the dog lying still at one place. When they got near, the dog panicked and ran away, but not before our staff noticed the huge VG that was painfully bothering her. Multiple attempts to capture her went to waste as she was afraid of the PAWS staff. However, she was finally captured and brought to the PAWS shelter on 9th March 2023. Treatment started immidiately considering her condition, and we plan to cure her VG fully & then sterilize her before releasing. Like quite a few dogs at the PAWS shelter, Radhey is without a mentor who can pay for her treatment. Please donate towards Radhey's treatment and sterilization, so that we are able to recover th

Panda fundraising

Laal, affectionately named Panda by the PAWS shelter staff, was picked up from Madhyamgram Bidhanpally area on 3-Nov-2022. Panda has a very bad case of cancer spread across his testicles and penis area, resulting in huge swelling and infections. After doing a blood test, we also found that he is infected with Babesia (small form), a potentially life threatening blood parasite infecting dogs. Since being admitted to the PAWS shelter over 2 months back, Panda has been given 5 doses of chemotherapy, and has also been receiving treatment for babesia small form. Total cost of treatment for Panda has already crossed Rs 9000, and his mentor, being a small time business man, could stretch his means to only cover appx half of that amount. Please donate to save Panda's life so that we can cover the cost to fully cure his cancer and babesia, and then release him as a fit dog to his mentor. Expense : Rs 9000 till 3-January-2023 Donors (only first name given to protect privacy) : Monojit (mento
